Women Unite!

When Jenna presented on Women in the Technology world and how they are discriminated against by their male counterparts since the tech world is a male-dominated industry. It brought women in technology to the center of my mind for a minute. I never really think about women in the tech field and what they go through. It goes to show how men underestimate and feel threatened by women. It seems to be that most men in that industry want to discredit women due their own insecurities.

It also made me think of the film industry and how they treat women especially women of color. I’m not only speaking to women in an actress position but in places of power like directors, writers, executive producers, etc. Harvey Weinstein was just served punishment for what he has done towards women he worked with in the past. Both scenarios just go to show the work that must be done with making women comfortable in their workplace and to encourage women to continue pursuing their career despite push back.

It’s as only if women are just to sit their and be pretty in their job positions and do as they’re told without any back talk. I believe a lot of the discrimination is because of those in high positions are older men, who grew up in a time where women weren’t allowed to have jobs in a male dominated field. Women were either educators, housewives, or a nurse. Now, there isn’t anything wrong with those jobs but they’re confining women to one box. Women are just as smart as men, even smarter. Men who still have that toxic mindset about women need to get rid of it because women are taking the world by storm and moving up in the business world. Women are beginning to hold high executive positions. Men can either move over or get on board with it.
